Island Peak (IMJATSE) is the fantastic & popular peak in Nepal. From Dingboche, the mountain is seen as an island in a sea of ice. The summit is interesting and attractive with a highly glaciated western face rising from the Lhotse Glacier. The mountain itself is the extension of the South Ridge of Lhotse Shar, separated by a small col. A ridge rising to the south from this point leads to the summit of Island Peak.
The extension of this ridge descending southwest is part of the normal route of ascent and leads to the South Summit. Imja Tse not only provides an enjoyable climb but also some of the most spectacular scenery of the Himalayas in the Khumbu region. Seen from the summit, the giant mountains – Nuptse (7,879 m), Lhotse (8,501 m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410 m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383 m) – make a semi-circle in the north. The views of Makalu (8,475 m) in the east, Baruntse, and Amadablam in the south add more charm for climbing Island Peak.
Option -01 – Island Peak via Kalapatther and Everest Base Camp Trek
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu & transfer to Hotel. Overnight at the hotel with BLD meal plan.
Day 02: Sightseeing of Kathmandu valley and preparation of peak climbing gear.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla from Kathmandu and trek to Phakding. Overnight stay at Phakding Lodge. On BLD base.
Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazar (3,446 m), 6.30 hrs. From Phakding, the trail continues north up the Dudh Kosi valley, staying 100 m above the river on its west bank. It leads to Jorsale (2,810 m) where you enter the Sagarmatha National Park. From here you will continue on an ever-steeper trail to Namche Bazar (3,446 m). En route, you have to cross the spectacular suspension bridge above the confluence of the Bhote Kosi and Dudh Kosi, and you will shortly glimpse the first view of Everest, way off to the Northeast. The trail to Namche Bazar is steep and long, but eventually, you will reach the remarkable Sherpa Capital, perched high on the hillside and dominated to the east by the immense bulk of Kwangde (6,187 m). Overnight at the tea house.
Day 05: Namche Bazar, one-day rest for acclimatization. Acclimatization is important before trekking higher, and this is a scheduled stop, which will allow you to gradually become used to the effects of altitude – the lower pressure and thinner air. You can spend the day by taking a side trip to Thami or Khumjung, by visiting the national park’s visitor center on the hill above Namche, or by simply resiting and browsing the shops in town. Namche is a fascinating place to simply hang out and take in the culture of the mountains: from the trading of visiting Tibetans to the stories of departing mountaineers. Overnight at the tea house.
Day 06: Namche Bazar to Tengboche (3,867 m), 6.30hrs. From Namche, you have to trek northeast on a direct line to Everest, starting up the hill to the visitor center and continuing on a reasonably flat, easy trail high above the Dudh Kosi. Ahead, you can see one of the most beautiful mountains in the Khumbu area – Ama Dablam (6,856 m), as well as Everest, but it is still far from the distance. At Sanasa you should branch off the trail and head up the hill to the small settlement where you can see the famous Tibetan Monastery. This is the place to spend the night.
Day 07: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,343 m), 6 hrs. Descend from Tengboche and cross the Imja Khola, then walk along the hills gradually to Pangboche. An interesting Gomba is above the main village. The trekker is in the midst of the Himalayas here, with spectacular views all around. Dingboche is lying in a sheltered spot above the Imja Khola and is becoming gradually more attractive. It is here that Himalayan Rescue Association has their aid post at Pheriche. Overnight stay at the house.
Day 08: Dingboche to Lobuche (4,930 m), 5.30 hrs. The route past Pheriche slants over a ride and stays above the village. It joins the trails below Thungla and grants beautiful views of Cholaste (6,440 m) across the valley. After another steep ascent, the trail climbs up and over the terminal moraine of Khumbu glacier. The trail is rough in these parts. Tawuche and Nuptse are particularly spectacular from Lobuche, towering almost two kilometers directly overhead.
Day 09: Lobuche to Gorakahep (5,180 m), 4 hrs. Overnight at the tea house.
Day 10: Gorakahep to Kalapattar (5,545 m), 6 hrs. We start early morning to get to Kalapattar. Your dream will come true here: this is the place from where you have a view of Mt. Everest. Overnight at the tea house.
Day 11: Trek to Pheriche (4,280 m). Overnight at the lodge on BLD.
Day 12: Trek to Chukkuming (4,730 m). Overnight at the lodge on BLD.
Day 13: Chukkuming acclimatization (3,440 m). Overnight at the lodge on BLD.
Day 14: Trek to Island Peak base camp (4,970 m). Overnight at the lodge on BLD.
Day 15: Climbing the Island Peak summit. If not possible, back to high camp, overnight stay in a tent.
Day 16: Spare day: again try climbing the summit and back to Chukkuing. Overnight at the lodge on BLD.
Day 17: Trek to Pangboche. Overnight at the lodge on BLD.
Day 18: Trek to Namche Bazar (3,440 m). Overnight at the lodge on BLD.
Day 19: Trek to Phakding (2,610 m). Overnight at the lodge on BLD.
Day 20: Trek to Lukla (2,840 m). Fly the same day or stay at Lukla; it depends on your time and the flight schedule. BLD meal plan.
Day 21: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel on B&B base.
Day 21: Fly out Kathmandu.

Our experienced Sherpas
The expedition will be supported by several strong and experienced Sherpas, at a ratio of one Sherpa to every two team members. If you book this trip early in advance, it will be much easier for us to make necessary pre-contracts with our Sherpas. They have many ascents of 8,000-meter peaks to their credit, including Kanchenjunga and Everest. In preparation of the route and for summit day, the Sherpas will be responsible for all load carrying and for pre-placing all of the camp store’s essentials for each team members ascent. This will leave the team members to focus on their own acclimatization and minimize exertion so that people start summit day least tired and physically as well prepared as possible. In addition to the leaders, the Sherpas will accompany the team to the top on summit day.
If you join this team, you will have a high level of support, starting with strong, confident leadership and experienced Sherpas. This will maximize your chances of success without undermining the quality of your achievement. The leader and any assistant leaders will accompany you throughout the peak climbing, as you would expect, and provide solidarity.
Passport & Visa
A passport with at least 6 months of validity beyond the duration of the trip is required, and it is your responsibility to obtain your own visa. A visa valid for 30 days can be obtained on arrival at Kathmandu International Airport at a charge of $ 40.00 or equivalent currency. You will need two passport size photographs for the visa. We will forward you the visa form and equipment list once you booked the trip with us. Four passport size photographs and your passport details will also be required for the climbing permit. These should be supplied to Sevenstar before the start of the peak climbing.
Insurance
We require participants to have travel insurance that covers medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation. Please ensure that your chosen policy provides cover for your activities (trekking and climbing with guides and ropes) and the localities in which you will travel (Nepal, to elevations up to 5,500 m above sea level).
Emergency Evacuation
Helicopter rescue services are available; evidence of insurance will be required by the evacuation services before the helicopter will fly. We would suggest you leave a copy of your medical insurance with us for necessary arrangement. However, emergency evacuation costs are not included in your expedition costs.

Bookings and Payments
All bookings are to be made at least 45 days prior, together with paying at least 30% of the Peak climbing costs and government charges in full. This will constitute your acceptance of our terms and conditions. You will need to submit a copy of each participant’s passport to our office via e-mail or fax, including two passport size photos for Peak Permit purposes. All payments are required per person as per the trip description.
A 50% discount is granted for a group leader if there are at least 10-15 members in a group and 100% discount (free participation for the group leader) if there are 25 or more members in a group.
