Long Rafting NRR/004 10 Days Above 2 Person Sun Koshi River

Sun Koshi Rafting’River of Gold’ has been rated as one of the top ten rafting trips in the world! It is also in the list of ‘must do while in Nepal’.The river rises near Shisha Pangma in Tibet and runs eastwards, draining the highest mountains of the world before emerging on the plains of India, where it joins the Ganges. Our journey takes us 270km through some of Nepal’s most remote regions giving you a unique wilderness experience. The first two days are relatively easy and allow time to train you as a team before the bigger rapids arrive. The rapids have acquired names like Meat Grinder, High Anxiety, Jaws and Big Dipper, from previous experiences on expeditions. Say no more! The calmer stretches between rapids give you time to take in the phenomenal views, swim (voluntarily) in warm water and camp on white sandy beaches. This river is a BIG volume HIGH adrenaline expedition!!!

Day 01 Upon arrive at Kathmandu airport you will be receiving by seven Star Trekking & Tours airport guest relation officer & transfer to designate hotel/Resort. Overnight at Hotel/Resort.
Day 02 We will leave from Kathmandu early in the morning after having loaded up the bus. A short three hour drive takes us to our put in point at Damauli. After lunch we will set up the rafts, load the gear raft and set off down the river. It is a fairly easy start to the trip, with just a few Grade 2 rapids before we reach our camp on Butterfly Beach. A relaxing first day takes us away from the roads and into the heart of the villages. We will set up our camp, have some yummy food and enjoy watching the stars overhead.
Day 03 After packing up the camp we have a slightly more exciting day with two big class rapids “No exit” (Grade 3) and “Meatgrinder” (Grade -4) as well as many smaller wave trains to keep us moving. The Tamba Kosi joins the river increasing the volume just before we reach our camp.
Day 04 The river starts to build up in volume today with more rivers spilling into it. Just below the confluence of the Likhu Khola we negotiate the “Anxiety” series of rapids, including, pre, post and “High Anxiety”. Again plenty of time to play in the warm waters, keep an eye out for those cheeky monkeys, enjoy the scenery and perhaps have alittle go at kayaking.
Day 05 Todays the day you have all heard about.”Hakapur”. We will stop at the village before we hit the rapid to stock up on chocolate and fizzy drinks (and maybe some fresh veg and meat if we are running low). We’ll then head down to scout the rapid. Depending on the season and our Guides this rapid may or may not be runnable. If it is, be prepared to get wet! Then just as you get your breath back its time for Hakapur II! We will camp at the confluence of the Sun Kosi and Dudh Kodi tonight which the river is running from Everest.
Day 06 – 09 In the coming few days you can expect “Jaws” I, II & III’, “Rhino Rock” and “Jungle Corridor” which is basically 10km of non-stop rapid with big bouncy waves. A highlight of these days is the big waterfall we will stop at for a well deserved shower.
The “Big Dipper” is the last big rapid on the river and a fitting finale to the Sun Kosi. You will notice the difference in scenery as the jungle dissapears along with the mountains making way for the flat Indian Plains.
Just after the confluence of the Arun and Tamur rivers we will stop at a Holy Hindu temple to view the sights. After this it is a quick 20 minute to the take out, Chatra, where we will unload the gear one final time and jump in our bus/plane back to Kathmandu.
Day 10 Drive back to Kathmandu. Farewell Dinner with Nepali Folk music and dances along with Seven Star Team. Overnight at Hotel.
