Visa Information for Nepal

A visa is necessary to enter Nepal and can be obtained for the following duration from any Royal Nepalese Embassy or Consulate or at most entry points in Nepal.

Multiple entry tourist visas can be obtained by paying the recommended charges.

Visitors may extend their tourist visa by paying US $2 per day.

Business visas with multiple entry facilities are available for five years. Ministry of Industry recommendation is required.

Visas are free for all tourists who come from a SAARC country. Indian nationals do not need a visa.

How to Get Entry?

It is very essential to know about the entry and exits point of any country. This helps you in avoiding unnecessary troubles. As far as Nepal is concerned, there are only 8 government approved entry points. These inlets can also be used for getting out of Nepal. There is absolutely no problem if you plan your entry and exit from the separate points and fill up the prescribed forms. Following are the government approved entry/exit points of Nepal.

You can fly directly to Kathmandu from London, Paris, Frankfurt, Vienna, Amsterdam, Doha, Dubai, Dhaka, Karachi, Munich, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Paro, Lhasa, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Calcutta and Varanasi.

Charter flights can also be arranged for large movements. All flights feature business class and amenities of international standards. Many a time, the Captain offers a guided sightseeing of the Himalaya for no extra charge!

Nepal Airlines, Thai Airways, Qatar Airways, Indian Airlines, Pakistan International Airlines, Biman Bangladesh, Gulf Air, Indian Airlines, Air Sahara, Jet Airways, Austrian Air, Air China, are the major airlines company making flight to Nepal regularly. Airfares fluctuate with the changes in exchange rates and are to be paid in foreign currency by foreign nationals. Only Nepalese and Indian nationals are permitted to pay in rupees for air passage between Nepal and India. Departure flight tickets should be reconfirmed three days in advance to avoid inconveniences by possible flight cancellation or changes in the flight schedule. Overweight luggage charges are levied in foreign exchange.

Airport Tax
Effective from January 14, 2005, the tourists would be levied NRS. 1100 (including VAT) at the departure terminal along with the Passenger Service Charge (airport tax)

Note: The new Airport Tax is equally applicable to Nepalese as well as non-Nepalese citizens flying from Nepal.
